My sister and I watched the extended cut DVD last night. Loved it. It makes the Lorien section, heretofore the weakest part of the movie, much better, much more coherent. It just fills in a lot of little corners as far as backstory and interaction among characters, the sort of thing to warm a fan's heart. (Merry and Pippin's reaction to Legolas telling them about lembas is priceless)...
